Ellen MacArthur Foundation test out ResCoM serious game

Development of the ResCoM Serious Game is getting closer to completion. Frederik Westerouen van Meeteren from TU Delft ran two sessions with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation team in Cowes, Isle of Wight to showcase the game as an educational resource and as an opportunity to collect final feedback.

The ResCoM Serious Game, being developed by TU Delft is based around the theme "design for multiple life cycles”. Using learnings from ResCoM, the purpose of the game is to support education of design managers, production managers, financial managers and supply chain managers about the challenges and opportunities of developing a closed loop product system in their company.

The environmental and economic impact of the product design decisions taking into account the interaction with supply chains and business models, allows the players to evaluate the barriers and opportunities circular design and business models may offer their company.

Sarah Heinrich, Schools & Colleges Programme Manager at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation commented “Gamification stimulates the mind and is a great tool for critical engagement and innovation. This game is a great way of bringing about creative friction between consumer and manufacturer perspectives that has the potential to propel real innovation."

The final deliverable is due at the end of October, with a public downloadable version of the game being available by the completion of the ResCoM project next year.
