Role in the project

INSEAD is leading the Supply Chains and Business Models for Multiple Lifecycles work package. Furthermore, INSEAD is supporting Requirement Analysis and Framework Definition, Design for Multiple Lifecycles, Collaborative Software Platform and the Industrial Pilot Evaluation (in particular the tedrive and Gorenje pilots) work packages. Additionally, INSEAD will contribute to scientific dissemination activities.

Prof. Luk Van Wassenhove

Prof. Luk Van Wassenhove holds the Henry Ford Chair of Manufacturing at INSEAD. He is one of the world’ leading researcher on operational excellence, supply chain management, continual improvement and learning. His recent research focus is on closed-loop supply chains (product take-back and end-of-life issues) and on disaster management (humanitarian logistics). He is the author of many award-winning teaching cases and regularly consults for major international corporations. Prof. Van Wassenhove is past-president of the Production and Operations Management Society and was elected in 2011 as a member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Sciences. He also created the INSEAD Social Innovation Centre, for which he acted as academic director until September 2010.

Patricia Van Loon, Post Doctoral Fellow

Patricia joined INSEAD Social Innovation Centre as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in April 2014. She gained her PhD in Logistics from the Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2013. The thesis, with the title “An Assessment of the Sustainability of E-fulfilment Models for the Delivery of Fast Moving Consumer Goods to the Home” was sponsored by Procter & Gamble.

She also did an MSc in Operations Management and Logistics and a BSc in Industrial Engineering, both at the Technical University of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. During the masters, she followed courses in sustainable logistics at Chalmers University in Sweden and performed her master thesis on the topic of green reversed logistics at Ericsson.
Patricia will mainly work on the INSEAD EC project RESCOM: Resource Conservative Manufacturing which has the objective to develop an innovative framework for the industrial implementation of closed-loop manufacturing systems.
